Senior QA Automation Engineer

Location: Remote with monthly office attendance in Southampton; must be based in the UK or Ireland.

Salary: £50,000–£70,000 per year.

What you will do

• Champion automated testing and embed an automation-first, shift-left quality approach across technology teams.
• Design, build and maintain automated test frameworks and solutions.
• Define and improve exploratory, functional and automated testing strategies.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers and QA professionals throughout refinement, design, development and delivery.
• Manage quality gates, support product releases and contribute to QA strategy, tooling, standards and best practices.
• Support performance, scalability and non-functional testing while driving continuous improvement in testing efficiency.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a QA Automation Engineer, Senior QA Engineer or Quality Engineering role.
• Strong passion for test automation, modern quality engineering practices and continuous improvement.
• Experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Cypress, Selenium, Playwright, JUnit, Postman or Sauce Labs.
• Experience embedding quality earlier in the development process through shift-left testing.
• Strong understanding of testing methodologies and the testing pyramid.
• Experience in agile software development environments and with both manual and automated testing.
• Understanding of programming languages, ideally .NET and/or TypeScript.
• Experience using Jira, Confluence and other agile delivery tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in distributed teams.

Nice to have

• Experience testing in cloud-based environments.
• Experience with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter or Gatling.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker or MongoDB.
• TypeScript development experience.
• Exposure to SwiftUI or React Native applications.
• Experience contributing to open-source projects.
