Principal Electrical Systems Engineer (Radar Systems)

Location: Cowes, Isle of Wight, England; full-time, site-based

Salary: £81.05 per hour plus Umbrella, Inside IR35

What you will do

• Lead electrical and systems engineering solutions for complex phased-array radar systems and associated subsystems.
• Perform system design analysis, requirements decomposition, architectural development, and lifecycle engineering in accordance with ISO 15288.
• Manage requirements, interfaces, and configuration using IBM DOORS Next and CATIA Magic/Cameo.
• Lead system integration, verification, validation, testing, technical acceptance, and fault resolution.
• Develop electrical power distribution systems covering AC/DC supplies, protection, control, motor drives, and positioning systems.
• Provide technical leadership, design reviews, EMC qualification support, data communications and networking guidance, and bespoke hardware specifications to multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Significant experience in complex systems engineering and electrical design.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale engineering systems in defence or other high-integrity environments.
• Strong knowledge of requirements management, configuration management, and engineering lifecycle processes.
• Familiarity with ISO 15288, European electrical safety standards, and EMC qualification to DEF STAN 59-411.
• Extensive experience in design verification, system integration, fault resolution, and technical acceptance.
• Thorough understanding of electrical safety, particularly for high-voltage and high-power equipment.
• Strong technical leadership skills and the ability to deliver solutions to challenging engineering problems.
