TL;DR
Quantum Dot Process & Characterisation Engineer (Quantum Computing): Preparing and validating GaAs/AlGaAs samples with InAs quantum dots for single-photon source fabrication with an accent on cleanroom processing, optical characterisation, and traceable sample validation. Focus on analysing photoluminescence and imaging data, optimising fabrication recipes, automating measurement setups, and defining acceptance criteria for Production and R&D.
hirify.global develops quantum computing hardware and software, with a focus on scalable, energy-efficient quantum solutions and photonic technologies.
What you will do
Prepare GaAs/AlGaAs samples containing InAs quantum dots for the first steps of single-photon source fabrication.
Perform cleanroom processing, including chemical surface treatment, PECVD deposition, and high-temperature annealing.
Characterise quantum dots before and after processing using photoluminescence and white-field imaging, including at cryogenic temperature.
Compare measurements with acceptance criteria, validate samples, and adjust process recipes within defined process windows.
Analyse data with Python, maintain complete sample traceability, and report results to Production and R&D.
Contribute to measurement automation, process optimisation, new process qualification, and definition of validation checks.
Requirements
Master’s degree (Bac+5) in Materials Science, Semiconductor Physics, Optics, Micro/Nanofabrication, or a related field.
Solid foundations in semiconductor physics, particularly III-V materials, and in optics and semiconductor fabrication processes.
Fluency in Python for data analysis.
Excellent attention to detail, rigorous experimental practice, and strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to investigate technical problems using experimental data and scientific literature.
Clear documentation and communication skills.
Fluent English, written and spoken, required.
Nice to have
Hands-on cleanroom experience, ideally with III-V device fabrication, wet and dry etching, PECVD deposition, or thermal processing.
Experience with optical characterisation and building or aligning photoluminescence and white-field imaging setups.
Experience with cryogenic measurements, such as a 40 K Stirling cryostat.
Experience automating instruments or measurement setups with Python.
Culture & Benefits
Hands-on daily work in the cleanroom and laboratory, with ownership of sample validation developing over the first year.
Collaboration with Production and R&D in a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
Profit-sharing, company savings plan, and 100% health coverage through Alan.
50% transport reimbursement or sustainable mobility bonus, meal vouchers through Swile, and Gymlib fitness support.
Childcare assistance and referral bonuses of €1,000–€2,000.
Hiring process
Talent Acquisition interview lasting 30–45 minutes, followed by a 45-minute Hiring Manager interview.
Technical interview and team meeting, followed by two reference checks and an offer.
