Senior Database Administrator (SQL Server & Azure)

Location: Portugal, Lisbon; hybrid/on-site as required

What you will do

• Administer, monitor, and optimize SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and Google Cloud SQL environments.
• Ensure database availability, reliability, performance, security, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
• Implement and maintain backup, recovery, clustering, replication, and high-availability solutions.
• Support ETL, data integration, real-time ingestion, IoT data flows, and integrations with external platforms.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot root causes, and proactively resolve database issues.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, data, and operations teams; produce technical reports and platform-evolution recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, or at least 6 years of professional database administration and management experience.
• Professional experience in data migration, modernization, or transformation projects.
• Experience with IoT data flows, real-time data ingestion, or integration with external systems and platforms.
• Administration experience with Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and Google Cloud SQL.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL data modelling, query optimization, performance tuning, capacity planning, monitoring, and root cause analysis.
• Experience with backup and recovery, clustering, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Experience with ETL, Azure Event Hubs, Google Cloud Pub/Sub, IoT platforms, and external-system integration.
• Knowledge of encryption, access control, identity management, GDPR, data governance, security monitoring, and auditing.
• Professional proficiency in Portuguese and/or English.
• At least one certification is required: Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300) or a recognized PostgreSQL certification.
