Software Engineer (Robotics Controls)

Location: Boston (Somerville), United States; onsite

Salary: $200K–$350K plus equity

What you will do

• Design, implement, and test the complete real-time control system, from low-level firmware to the input specification for each robot embodiment.
• Own control software across stock industrial collaborative robot arms and custom hardware.
• Translate ML output intentions into smooth, efficient, safe, and responsive robot actions.
• Collaborate with ML, hardware, and external partners to optimize system behavior, dynamics, and components.
• Bring reliable control systems into production environments with stringent reliability requirements.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in rigid-body kinematics and robotic controls.
• Experience bringing robots into production environments with stringent reliability requirements.
• Experience writing high-performance, production-ready Python and C++.
• Experience with kinematics or simulation libraries.
• Experience with robotic middleware platforms such as ROS, ROS2, or ZCM.
• Extensive experience of 5+ years; this experience often includes a PhD.
