Senior Embedded Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: El Segundo, California, United States; onsite

Salary: $140,000–$168,000 per year

What you will do

• Design and implement embedded software from requirements through production and commercial deployment.
• Develop, test, debug, document, and review system software and designs.
• Analyze software efficiency, stability, scalability, I/O performance, and quality.
• Integrate and validate product designs while collaborating with hardware engineers.
• Provide post-production and in-orbit customer support.
• Present engineering design reviews to customers and executives and contribute to proposal writing.

Requirements

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
• At least 5 years of industry experience in software development.
• Hands-on development and troubleshooting of embedded hardware, including API design for FPGA interfaces.
• Experience with aerospace products and programming in C or C++.
• Experience designing embedded systems with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems.
• Knowledge of software configuration management, defect tracking, peer review, real-time coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces, and hardware subsystems.
• Strong understanding of multithreaded applications and resource management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, refugee, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice to have

• Real-time Linux experience.
• Ability to read electronics schematics and component data sheets.
• Experience with ARM processors and fully featured microcontrollers.
• Experience designing and developing a Software Development Kit.
