Senior Flight Software Engineer I (Embedded C/C++)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; U.S. citizenship is required.

Base pay range: $132,000–$198,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Develop application software for real-time operating systems and embedded Linux.
• Develop hardware drivers for IMUs, star trackers, reaction wheels, and other spacecraft sensors and actuators.
• Build and maintain unit tests within a continuous integration framework.
• Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop test engineers to verify and validate integrated hardware and software.
• Work with systems and embedded systems engineers to define, document, and validate requirements; participate in source-code and design reviews.
• Assist with on-orbit and interplanetary flight operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
• 5+ years of applicable embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C and C++.
• Experience with real-time operating systems or embedded Linux.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
• For U.S. office roles, candidates must satisfy applicable ITAR authorization requirements.
• The position may require prolonged sitting, standing, walking, computer work, and occasional exposure to moderate noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.

Nice to have

• Active Secret or TS/SCI security clearance.
• Advanced degree.
• Experience with CAN/CAN-FD and/or UDP/TCP in embedded systems.
• Experience developing software for autonomous vehicles operating in harsh environments, such as satellites or other autonomous vehicles.
