Senior Systems Engineer (Embedded Systems)

Location: San Diego, CA; fully onsite. Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain the required U.S. Government security clearance. Applicants must also qualify as a U.S. Person under applicable ITAR and EAR requirements.

Base salary: $165,000–$205,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Lead requirements development, system design, integration, qualification, testing, and lifecycle oversight for compute, camera, and radio portfolios.
• Develop system architectures, block diagrams, interface definitions, control documents, and product specifications.
• Create requirements verification and compliance matrices, verification and validation plans, qualification and acceptance flows, and production test plans.
• Perform optimization, analysis, and trade studies while ensuring architectures are realizable, testable, maintainable, and supportable.
• Allocate requirements, interfaces, and design budgets to project and design engineers, including derived requirements at board boundaries.
• Provide technical leadership to cross-functional engineering teams and coordinate with customers, engineers, and program management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering or systems engineering, with at least 8 years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree.
• Experience leading technical product development, projects, and teams to successful completion.
• Experience with flight-software systems, ground-system software, and mission operations.
• Experience developing software for embedded systems and working with embedded processors or microcontrollers such as ARM, PowerPC, x86, TI-DSP, or 8051 using RTOS or bare metal.
• Experience with requirements management software such as JAMA or DOORS, software configuration management, and issue tracking tools.
• Experience with agile development.
• Experience with embedded-system interface buses and protocols, including PCI, RS-422/232, SPI, CameraLink, SpaceWire, Ethernet, or CAN.
• Programming experience, particularly in C, C++, Python, or other scripting and test languages.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain the required U.S. Government security clearance and applicable access eligibility.
