Manager, Build Engineering (Manufacturing): Leading end-to-end new product introduction for aerospace and defense manufacturing programs with an accent on first-article builds, qualification, production ramp, and cross-functional execution. Focus on resolving drawing, tolerance, tooling, materials, and process-flow constraints, assessing manufacturability risk, and developing Build Engineers on the factory floor.

Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States; onsite

Salary: $200K–$280K per year plus equity.

Company

hirify.global builds autonomous factories combining AI, advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing for aerospace, defense, and other mission-critical products.

What you will do

  • Lead and grow Build Engineers dedicated to a customer or program while remaining hands-on during high-priority builds.
  • Own program-level NPI outcomes from first article through qualification, stabilized production, and transition to standard production.
  • Set sequencing, priorities, execution plans, and risk-mitigation actions across the program.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain, Capability Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Software, Materials & Processes, and Test to resolve constraints.
  • Escalate and resolve issues involving drawings, tolerances, tooling, materials, and process flow; support engineering changes.
  • Coach engineers, make staffing and leveling decisions, represent the program in reviews, and drive lessons learned.

Requirements

  • 6–10+ years of experience in build, production, or manufacturing engineering, including hands-on NPI or zero-to-one manufacturing experience.
  • 2+ years leading or managing engineers in a manufacturing environment, or a demonstrated record of informal technical leadership.
  • Success coordinating engineering, supply chain, software, and production functions on complex or first-of-kind builds.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, BOMs, and process requirements.
  • Comfort working hands-on on the factory floor while managing and prioritizing at program level.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under schedule pressure with incomplete or changing information.
  • Excellent communication skills for aligning technicians, engineers, and leadership around one execution plan.
  • Must meet ITAR eligibility requirements: U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Experience owning a product or program from concept or prototype through production ramp at a high-growth manufacturing or hardware company.
  • Precision manufacturing, machining, assembly, or inspection experience in aerospace, defense, or another mission-critical industry.
  • Exposure to test engineering, materials & processes, or capability engineering.
  • Experience managing teams through frequent design or priority changes.
  • Familiarity with ERP, MES, PLM, and digital work-instruction tools.
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
  • 401(k), flexible vacation policy, and equity.
  • Relocation support may be provided in certain situations based on business need.
  • Work centers on autonomous factories, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and mission-critical aerospace and defense products.
