Software Architect (AI)

Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Hybrid workplace with specific in-office days each month.

Annual base salary: $111 308,33–$155 435,00.

What you will do

• Define and evolve scalable, secure, high-performance backend architectures and microservices for a cloud-based Building Management System.
• Design end-to-end solutions integrating services, platforms, cloud infrastructure, APIs, event-driven systems, and distributed systems.
• Deliver production-ready generative AI and agentic AI capabilities that enhance products and automate workflows.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs and architectural solutions with Product Managers and stakeholders.
• Establish engineering standards, design patterns, coding guidelines, and best practices; evaluate technologies and frameworks.
• Lead architecture, design, code, and implementation reviews; manage technical delivery, mitigate risks, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience, including software architecture for complex applications.
• Experience delivering end-to-end software solutions from architecture and design through implementation and production deployment.
• Strong proficiency in Python, object-oriented design, Git, and modern software development practices.
• Experience designing scalable, distributed, cloud-based systems using AWS managed services such as Lambda, SQS, API Gateway, and EventBridge.
• Strong understanding of architecture patterns, APIs, relational and NoSQL databases, messaging systems, and system integration; experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, or MongoDB.
• Deep understanding of testing strategies, CI/CD, observability, code quality, and maintainability.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and workflows, plus curiosity about emerging technologies.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership.
• French-English bilingualism is required: fluency in French and full professional proficiency in English are required for daily oral and written communication.
