TL;DR
Embedded Automotive Platforms, Staff Software Engineer (AI): Building and integrating embedded software that connects Wayve’s AI Driver with vehicle platforms and onboard systems with an accent on modern C++, system interfaces, reliability, and vehicle integration. Focus on designing architecture across hardware platforms, diagnosing system-boundary issues, and validating software through simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and real vehicle testing.

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid working with in-person collaboration in offices, remote work, and hands-on work in vehicle workshops and labs.

Company

hirify.global is building an AI platform for autonomous driving, using an end-to-end, mapless and hardware-agnostic approach to enable vehicles to learn from real-world experience and operate across global OEM platforms.

What you will do

  • Design, build, maintain, and integrate embedded software connecting hirify.global’s AI Driver with vehicle platforms and onboard systems.
  • Develop interfaces and adaptation layers between AI capabilities, vehicle software, and platform-specific components.
  • Work across inference integration, vehicle data, navigation, localisation, odometry, driver interaction, and motion-control interfaces.
  • Take features from technical design through implementation, testing, vehicle integration, and release.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues using simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, vehicle testing, logs, and performance data.
  • Shape architecture, review designs and code, improve reuse across vehicle platforms, and raise engineering standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong software engineering experience in modern C++ with a record of delivering production-quality software.
  • Experience developing embedded or systems software, ideally on Nvidia and Qualcomm platforms with Linux/QNX, and experience with Linux-based platforms.
  • Experience with system architecture and designing software components, APIs, or interfaces for complex systems.
  • Strong software quality practices, including testing, debugging, code review, and maintainability.
  • Experience diagnosing problems across component or system boundaries.
  • Ability to clarify requirements and make progress in ambiguous situations with technical partners.
  • Clear communication and collaboration skills across teams and locations.
  • Ownership-minded approach to taking complex problems from investigation through implementation and validation.

Nice to have

  • Experience in autonomous driving, automotive, robotics, or another real-time, safety-related domain.
  • Familiarity with vehicle software, middleware, sensors, actuators, or vehicle communication protocols.
  • Experience integrating machine-learning inference or compute-intensive workloads on embedded hardware.
  • Familiarity with navigation, state estimation, or driver-interaction systems.
  • Experience with simulation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or vehicle testing.
  • Familiarity with automotive software development processes, including ASPICE or similar practices.
  • Experience supporting software across multiple hardware platforms or vehicle programmes.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hybrid working model combining office collaboration with focused remote work, plus core hours.
  • Relocation support and visa sponsorship where applicable.
  • Market-benchmarked annual salaries, meaningful equity, and location-dependent benefits.
  • Learning and development budgets for training, conferences, and growth.
  • Health, dental, parental-leave, retirement or pension, therapy, wellbeing, and team-social benefits where applicable.
  • Environment focused on ownership and shaping processes in an evolving organisation.

Hiring process

  • Initial recruiter call: 30 minutes.
  • Competency interviews covering programming and hiring-manager discussion: 1.5 hours total.
  • Systems and domain-specific technical interviews: 4 hours total, followed by a 30-minute mission and values interview.
