Associate Scientist (Laboratory Automation)

Location: On premise in Pearl River, New York, United States. Sunday-through-Thursday schedule, with 8.5-hour workdays scheduled between 10:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. according to business needs.

Annual base salary: $60,200–$100,400, plus eligibility for a 7.5% bonus target.

What you will do

• Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory automation systems for automated sample preparation workflows.
• Generate high-quality assay-ready materials for hirify.global’s vaccine research portfolio.
• Follow approved procedures, safety requirements, quality standards, and current departmental training requirements.
• Execute assigned work against schedules, project milestones, and operational deadlines.
• Manage materials, reagents, controls, reference standards, and consumables for automated workflows.
• Collaborate with scientific, operational, and quality partners on laboratory objectives and project deliverables.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• Experience in a laboratory, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or academic environment.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic laboratory systems.
• Experience using common AI tools, including ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, to support problem solving and productivity.
• Curiosity about applying AI tools to improve outcomes and understanding of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use.
• Ability to work extensively in a laboratory, wear required PPE, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform standing, walking, bending, reaching, and extended workstation activities.
• Candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the United States by any employer.

Nice to have

• Experience with laboratory automation, robotic liquid-handling platforms such as Hamilton, Tecan, or Beckman Coulter, and high-throughput sample preparation workflows.
• Knowledge of regulated laboratory practices, data integrity principles, and quality systems such as GxP.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled tools for problem solving and productivity.
