Scientist - I (Associate) (Chromatography)

Location: Onsite laboratory-based position in Rahway, New Jersey, United States.

Salary: $61,900–$66,900 annually.

What you will do

• Perform analytical testing of laboratory samples related to small-molecule and peptide development and characterization.
• Operate and maintain liquid chromatography and other analytical laboratory instruments.
• Prepare samples, reagents, solutions, buffers, and mobile phases.
• Collect, process, review, manage, and document analytical data according to approved methods and procedures.
• Support analytical method screening, optimization, troubleshooting, and chromatography data analysis.
• Follow laboratory quality, safety, hygiene, sample-management, and documentation procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 1+ year of relevant experience.
• Relevant experience in analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical development, or small-molecule laboratory testing.
• Hands-on separation-technique experience for small molecules and/or peptides.
• Experience analyzing formulation, development, characterization, or related laboratory samples.
• Experience with one or more of HPLC/UPLC, SEC, IEX, RP, HIC, UV spectroscopy, or mass spectrometry.
• Ability to operate liquid chromatography instruments independently, prepare samples, collect and process data, and understand chromatography modes and separation principles.
• Strong laboratory documentation and data integrity practices.
• Comfort working in an onsite, regulated scientific laboratory while following established procedures and safety requirements.

Nice to have

• General knowledge of analytical chemistry principles.
• Experience preparing dilutions, solutions, buffers, and mobile phases.
• Experience with electronic laboratory notebooks, chromatography data systems, and analytical laboratory software.
• Experience with chromatography modeling, method-development software, automation tools, or computer programming.
• Pharmaceutical industry experience, or relevant chemical or analytical laboratory experience.
• Familiarity with GMP or GLP laboratory environments.
• Proficiency with standard business productivity applications and strong data handling practices.
