AI Phone - Head of Android / AOSP

What you will do

• Own the Android platform architecture and AOSP-based ROM development.
• Define OS-level integration of AI capabilities, including system services and privileged APIs for AI agents.
• Design system-level permission and security architecture.
• Evaluate Android platform limitations and determine required modifications or extensions.
• Collaborate with hardware vendors and ODMs on device integration.
• Lead Android platform engineering, establish technical standards, and evaluate trade-offs for the first phone.

Requirements

• Strong experience with the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), Android Framework, System Services, and Android internals.
• Experience with Binder IPC, Android permissions, SELinux, and system processes.
• Strong knowledge of Java, Kotlin, and C++.
• Experience building or modifying Android ROMs.
• Experience shipping Android platform-level features rather than only Android applications.
• Strong system architecture and technical leadership experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Google Android, Pixel, Samsung, Xiaomi, OPPO, or similar Android platform teams.
• Experience with custom ROM development, Android BSP, HAL, and device bring-up.
• Experience with background execution and power optimization.
• Experience integrating AI or ML capabilities at the OS level.
