Hirify AI/Оригинал
TL;DR
Cloud - Bare Metal Infrastructure Engineer (Cloud) (Bare Metal/Kubernetes): Building Render's bare metal cloud footprint from an initial colocation site to thousands of hosts with an accent on server provisioning, fleet lifecycle automation, and resilient infrastructure operations. Focus on designing reconciliation-based systems, integrating hardware fleets with Kubernetes, and surviving hardware, site, and rollout failures.
Location: Remote in the United States; San Francisco headquarters and colocation sites are referenced, with regular site visits potentially required.
Salary: $230K–$290K annually plus equity.
Company
hirify.global is building a developer-focused cloud platform for AI-native, full-stack, multi-service applications with persistent compute, autoscaling, orchestration, and observability.
What you will do
Build hirify.global's first colocation site from an empty cage to production workloads and scale the platform to additional sites and thousands of hosts.
Design low-touch server provisioning, including netboot, imaging, BMC-driven discovery, and host identity.
Partner with network engineering on out-of-band management and production connectivity.
Build interfaces for the Kubernetes platform to request capacity, monitor host health, and coordinate maintenance.
Own hardware, software, and physical-environment inventory while automating burn-in, acceptance testing, firmware rollouts, remediation, and RMA.
Set the technical and operational direction for the bare metal platform, including build-versus-buy decisions and team growth.
Requirements
Hands-on experience building and operating bare metal fleet automation in datacenters or colocation environments.
Experience with both physical hardware and colocation providers and software-driven fleet management.
Strong Go or Python skills and experience designing reconciliation loops, idempotent actions, and failure-tolerant systems.
Ability to debug infrastructure below the abstraction layer and operate through failures such as bad hardware batches, unstable BMCs, or halted rollouts.
Deep Linux knowledge and solid networking fundamentals, including DHCP, PXE, DNS, and BGP.
Working knowledge of Kubernetes sufficient to design the interface between the fleet and Kubernetes clusters.
Clear communication, comfort with ambiguity, and willingness to challenge unsound plans.
Applicants requiring new visa sponsorship need business authorization; the role is generally not eligible for new sponsorship.
Nice to have
Experience operating bare metal fleets at thousands-of-host scale or participating in an early-stage bare metal or datacenter build-out.
Experience with hybrid environments or moving workloads between public cloud and owned hardware.
Experience with NetBox, Nautobot, Ironic, Metal3, Tinkerbell, or MAAS.
Experience building reconcilers or state machines for physical infrastructure.
Hardware expertise including component diagnostics, burn-in tooling, firmware, Redfish, or IPMI at fleet scale.
Experience building internal platforms or APIs for infrastructure teams.
Being based near colocation sites or able to visit them regularly.
Culture & Benefits
Small, experienced infrastructure team with substantial ownership and close collaboration across network engineering and Kubernetes platform teams.
Four weeks of paid vacation and 14 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all parents.
Employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus disability, life insurance, 401(k), FSA, and HSA plans.
Wellness and mental-health stipend, phone and internet subsidy, remote home-office stipend, and continuous learning support.
Hiring process
The interview process is tailored to the role and is designed to include thoughtful, respectful conversations.
Applicants are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet every listed requirement.
