Senior Technician, Layer 1 (Phoenix, AZ)

Location: Remote in the posting header; the role is explicitly situated onsite in Phoenix, AZ, and requires living within 30 minutes of the Phoenix Metro area. Other listed locations include Anytown, UT and San Diego, CA.

What you will do

• Deploy, configure, operate, monitor, troubleshoot, optimize, and manage the lifecycle of enterprise compute and virtualization platforms.
• Deploy and manage block, file, and object storage, including SAN/NAS, storage fabrics, multipathing, replication, snapshots, capacity, and performance.
• Deploy and troubleshoot data-center networking, including switching, routing, VLANs, DNS/DHCP dependencies, IP addressing, redundancy, segmentation, and load-balancing concepts.
• Engineer integrated solutions across compute, storage, and networking; lead complex cross-domain incident troubleshooting and create standards, reference architectures, and documentation.
• Partner with architecture, security, cloud, application, database, and operations teams on refreshes, migrations, consolidations, and modernization initiatives.
• Install and maintain cabling and data-center equipment, perform rack-and-stack and hardware MAC activities, replace failed components, track assets, and support incidents, inspections, audits, and compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, equivalent work experience, and/or military experience.
• 10–15 years of experience in a data center, telecommunications, or infrastructure environment.
• Knowledge of structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber optics.
• Experience in enterprise, colocation, cloud, or hyperscale data centers.
• Must live within 30 minutes of the Phoenix Metro area.
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs and to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
• Comfort working in hot/cold aisle environments and after-hours, weekend, or on-call shifts.
