Senior Network Administrator (AWS)

What you will do

• Administer, maintain, monitor, and secure VistA, VA Enterprise Cloud AWS, and VA WAN network infrastructure.
• Plan and implement connectivity requests for cloud resources in the VAEC AWS environment.
• Troubleshoot network incidents and outages across enterprise and local networks, lead recovery, and document root causes and corrective actions.
• Develop network management plans, diagrams, technical documentation, performance reports, and improvement recommendations.
• Implement firewall, access-control, network protection, and security compliance measures.
• Execute network tasks in a SAFe/Agile environment and present configurations, updates, and status to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or another engineering or technical discipline; eight years of additional relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience managing, monitoring, and configuring computer systems across varied networks, including high-volume, high-availability, and wide area networks for government IT systems.
• Experience with AWS cloud networking and connectivity management, and with supporting multiple administrator and engineering teams across enterprise and local networks.
• Knowledge and implementation experience with agency computer-access policies, firewalls, and network protection technologies.
• Ability to create and maintain network diagrams and documentation using industry-standard tools.
• Familiarity with SAFe/Agile methodologies and agile ceremonies.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting VistA networks, VAEC, the VA WAN, or VA and other federal healthcare IT environments.
• Active Public Trust clearance or higher.
• CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or relevant certifications.
• Experience using approved AI-assisted tools for network configurations, automation scripts, and documentation, including testing and validating generated configurations before deployment.
• Experience using AI-driven monitoring and analysis for anomaly detection, log and traffic analysis, and root-cause investigation, with administrator validation before action.
• Knowledge of secure and responsible AI use in federal environments, including agency-approved tools and VA and federal AI guidance.
