Field Application Engineer, AMD

Location: Adelaide, Australia; work from home with travel to customer sites

What you will do

• Understand customers’ products and goals and connect them with suitable AMD technologies and specialist support.
• Build customer relationships through visits, technical discussions, demonstrations, and follow-up.
• Own customer questions and opportunities, coordinating with account managers, colleagues, and AMD specialists.
• Prepare presentations, demonstrations, training materials, and written updates.
• Continue learning about AMD products and share knowledge with customers and the team.
• Use agentic AI tools for research, planning, material preparation, follow-up, and technical exploration while validating important claims and protecting information.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to customer sites.
• Degree in Electronics Engineering, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong interest in technology and motivation to learn AMD FPGA and embedded x86 products.
• Self-directed approach with the ability to identify next steps and follow through on commitments.
• Ability and willingness to use agentic AI tools productively and responsibly while applying personal judgment to their output.
• Clear communication skills and interest in working directly with customers.

Nice to have

• FPGA and Adaptive SoC design experience with AMD tools such as Vivado or Vitis, RTL, embedded processing, system integration, or high-speed interfaces.
• Embedded processor software experience with C/C++, embedded Linux, boot and board bring-up, kernel or device-driver work, or processor-based system integration.
• Embedded x86 platform experience with AMD Ryzen Embedded or EPYC Embedded, BIOS/UEFI, operating system integration, interfaces, graphics, networking, or power and thermal considerations.
• Experience with Yocto or Buildroot, Linux kernel and drivers, PCIe, Ethernet, USB, DDR, Python or Tcl scripting, oscilloscopes or other debug tools, edge AI or machine learning, microcontrollers, or AMD SoCs.
• Recent graduates with strong technical passion are welcome; one candidate is not expected to cover every technical area.
