Cybersecurity Engineer

Location: Fully onsite in Hampton, Virginia, at Joint Base Langley-Eustis / Langley Air Force Base

Salary: $140,000–$150,000 annually

What you will do

• Design, implement, maintain, and improve secure digital infrastructures, cybersecurity systems, and comprehensive security architectures.
• Develop, execute, and track security measures protecting information, networks, systems, and computer infrastructure.
• Define and document system security requirements, recommend solutions, and translate requirements into technical designs with clients.
• Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain security software and hardware, including monitoring, intrusion detection, firewalls, authentication, and content-filtering systems.
• Monitor systems for irregular behavior, implement preventive measures, and maintain organizational security posture.
• Provide technical guidance to government representatives and train staff in information-system security best practices.

Requirements

• High school education with 9+ years of experience, or commensurate experience.
• Active TS/SCI eligibility is required.
• DoD 8140 IAM Level III certification, such as CISSP, GSLC, or CISM.
• Expert knowledge of fundamental and advanced cybersecurity, security protocols, and principles.
• Experience developing, operating, and maintaining security systems.
• Extensive knowledge of operating-system and database security.
• Proficiency in networking technologies, network security, and network-monitoring solutions.
• Knowledge of antivirus applications, content filtering, firewalls, authentication systems, and intrusion-detection and notification systems.
• Critical-thinking skills and the ability to solve complex problems; understanding of the system development lifecycle and ability to provide government guidance.

Nice to have

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with secure network architectures, encryption technologies and standards, application security, virtualization, and secure coding practices.
• Familiarity with identity and access management, network routing, social engineering, advanced persistent threats, and gateway anti-malware.
