Cyber Systems Engineer - Integrated Mission Defense Support (Cybersecurity)

Location: Chantilly, Virginia, United States; onsite with no remote or telework allowed. Customer core hours are 0900–1500, Monday–Friday.

Salary: $133,901.35–$232,828.46 annually. A separate listing field also states $5,000.

What you will do

• Provide Integrated Mission Defense SETA support across cybersecurity, information assurance, and Defensive Cybersecurity Operations.
• Identify baseline, capability, and coverage gaps; plan future requirements and capabilities; and recommend process improvements.
• Support mission assurance, resiliency, defensive cyber operations, compliance inspections, assessments, validation, and verification.
• Conduct research, independent technical analysis, documentation, Concept of Operations development, capability assessments, and proof-of-concept activities.
• Assess changes to processes, procedures, applications, and infrastructure while articulating risks, priorities, issues, and opportunities.
• Develop technical artifacts and briefings, communicate complex information to technical and executive audiences, and ensure future capabilities meet requirements and remain maintainable.

Requirements

• BS with 10–12 years of experience, MS with 8–10 years, or Ph.D. with 5–7 years.
• Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Must support customer core hours from 0900–1500, Monday–Friday, and work onsite in Chantilly, Virginia.
• DoD 8570 Level 3 certification in IAT or IAM.
• Ability to support cyber identification, protection, detection, and response and recommend approaches that enable the mission.
• Experience with the customer’s operations environment and familiarity with mission systems.
• Highly developed oral and written communication skills for working with personnel at all levels, including executives.
• Experience in systems engineering, requirements development, technical analysis, and analysis of alternatives.
• Understanding of IPv4 and IPv6, networking, packet capture and analysis, routing and switching infrastructure, Cross-Domain Solutions, Type 1 and Type 2 encryption, and intrusion detection systems.
• Experience with active and passive CND solutions and Defensive Cyber Operations analytics, including Syslog, EDR, IDS, Full Packet Capture, Elastic Stack, and SIEM platforms such as ArcSight, LogRhythm, or Splunk.
• AWS/C2S cloud familiarity or experience and knowledge of associated AWS/C2S cybersecurity services.
• Ability to work in a highly decentralized organization with virtual and physical interaction across organizational boundaries.

Nice to have

• Bachelor of Science in a STEM field or an advanced information assurance certification.
• Self-starter capable of working with limited direction and supervision.
• Experience briefing senior customer personnel.
• Ability to organize and prioritize numerous customer requests in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Familiarity with the customer’s information assurance processes.
