Staff Data Scientist (Machine Learning)

Location: Remote US

Base salary: $127,000–$224,000 per year, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of machine learning models powering product experiences, coverage recommenders, user-to-channel routing, and agent assignment.
• Engineer features, prototype experiments, and ship iterative model improvements to production.
• Partner with product managers and engineering to define the modeling roadmap and how model scores are consumed in real-time product surfaces.
• Contribute to marketing measurement through causal inference, marketing mix modeling, media attribution, and incrementality analysis.
• Align model performance metrics with business objectives and combine multiple models into coherent solutions.
• Raise the data science bar through code review, documentation, mentorship, and clear communication of model behavior and uncertainty.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data science or machine learning at established firms or high-growth technology companies.
• Strong command of supervised learning and recommendation systems, with experience shipping production models rather than only notebooks.
• Proficiency in Python, including PyMC, scikit-learn, XGBoost or LightGBM, and SQL.
• Hands-on Bayesian experience covering prior elicitation, posterior inference, and experiment design.
• Experience deploying production models integrated with consumer-facing products.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to translate model behavior and uncertainty into stakeholder recommendations.
• Experience with recommender systems or personalization at scale, causal inference including difference-in-differences, uplift modeling, and instrumental variables.
• Experience with dbt or data pipelines, and with MLflow, feature stores, or other machine learning infrastructure tooling.
• Experience in insurtech, fintech, or another regulated industry; ability to choose appropriately between simple heuristics and machine learning solutions and work through technical details while maintaining the broader context.
