Staff Data Scientist (Machine Learning)

Location: US - Remote

Salary: $190K–$230K plus equity

What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of automated ML systems and foundational ML infrastructure.
• Translate ambiguous business questions involving acquisition, churn, supply chain, and marketing attribution into technical roadmaps.
• Deploy ML products end to end and ensure they are accurate, robust, maintainable, and integrated into production infrastructure.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, and Business to align technical strategy with business goals and core metrics.
• Establish model development standards through design documents and peer reviews, ensuring reproducibility and integration with Data and Analytics Engineering.
• Own model lifecycles, mentor Senior and Mid-level Data Scientists, and improve the technical capabilities of the data organization.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Data Science or ML Engineering, including a proven record of building production systems with measurable business impact.
• High proficiency in Python and SQL, with expert-level experience using pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn.
• Experience with at least one major ML framework, such as PyTorch, XGBoost, or LightGBM.
• Ability to solve unique, broad-impact problems, balance immediate value with long-term scalability, and influence without authority.
• Ability to explain complex technical logic through compelling narratives for executive leadership.
• Experience with CI/CD, MLOps, and the full model lifecycle in a cloud-based production environment using AWS or GCP.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent field expertise.

Nice to have

• Experience taking an organization's first ML models from exploratory notebooks to reliable, automated production pipelines.
• Experience in one or two areas of advanced business ML: customer behavior and propensity modeling, forecasting and anomaly detection, optimization, or causal inference and robust experimentation.
