Backend Software Engineer (Rust)

Location: United Kingdom; remote, with candidates based between UTC-5 and UTC+4

hirify.global is an early-stage, remote-first product company building mirrord, a Kubernetes development platform that lets developers and AI coding agents run code against live clusters before deployment.

What you will do

• Contribute Rust code that creates, manages, reconfigures, and adapts cloud resources.
• Build features that automatically manage cloud services such as message brokers, databases, and Kubernetes resources while minimizing resource duplication.
• Use AI to deliver high-quality code efficiently.
• Collaborate on architecture, feature design, and infrastructure with a small engineering team.
• Engage directly with users to gather requirements, develop solutions, and debug issues.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional software development experience, including at least 1 year writing production-grade Rust.
• Based between UTC-5 and UTC+4.
• Strong systems-level thinking and the ability to debug complex, distributed environments.
• Comfort working asynchronously in a remote-first startup environment.
• Familiarity with cloud-native environments, including Docker, containers, and Kubernetes, beyond the basics.
• Familiarity with backend infrastructure tooling such as datastores, message brokers, and GitOps tools.
• Good communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience building developer tools.
• Experience building Kubernetes operators or other components that interact with the Kubernetes API.
• DevOps or platform experience.
