Backend Engineer, Cloud (Rust)

What you will do

• Build and operate backend capabilities spanning APIs, application logic, storage, asynchronous processing, deployment, and operations.
• Develop Cloud Runners that provide ephemeral compute for development work.
• Evolve billing for new products, pricing, and packaging, and integrate identity providers and authorization capabilities.
• Build integrations connecting hirify.global and Delta with developers' existing workflows.
• Shape projects with engineering and product partners, write and review production code, investigate difficult bugs, and make deliberate technical trade-offs.
• Participate in on-call, respond to incidents, and address recurring issues across software and infrastructure.

Requirements

• Experience owning backend services from design through production and continued development, including API and data-model decisions, active-user releases, failures, and operational issues.
• Experience building and operating the cloud infrastructure behind software, including resource provisioning, deployment configuration, monitoring, and diagnosing production problems across application code and infrastructure.
• Experience leading projects contributed to by other engineers while continuing to write code, clarify requirements, resolve dependencies, and deliver projects.
• Experience working across different backend problems, including new capabilities, integrations, and operational improvements.
• Experience making technical decisions with engineers and product partners, evaluating trade-offs, and incorporating stakeholder input.
• Readiness to build in Rust; production Rust experience is advantageous but not required. Candidates new to Rust should be able to demonstrate learning an unfamiliar language or codebase and shipping production work in it.
• A career centered on building software, potentially combining backend and infrastructure ownership or application engineering with platform, DevOps, or reliability work.
