R&D Engineer Firmware (Embedded C/ARM)

Location: Irvine, California, United States; onsite role.

Annual base salary: USD 91,100–146,000, plus discretionary annual bonus and equity awards.

What you will do

• Architect, design, implement, test, maintain, and support low-level firmware modules, middleware, sample applications, diagnostics, and embedded software.
• Develop new products and maintain legacy products throughout the firmware development cycle.
• Troubleshoot embedded C firmware applications and provide strong debugging expertise.
• Collaborate with system, analog, and digital hardware design teams.
• Contribute leadership and expertise to standards, architectural governance, design patterns, and code hygiene practices.
• Represent hirify.global in recruiting and motivating technical talent.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 5+ years of related experience, or a Master's degree and 3+ years of related experience; postgraduate coursework may be desirable.
• Strong software development and documentation skills.
• Proven experience developing in C and ARM Assembly on embedded targets.
• Good understanding of real-time systems, multithreading, and concurrent programming.
• Experience with multiprocessor programming and inter-processor communication.
• Driver experience with MDIO, I2C, SPI, or similar interfaces.
• Strong debugging skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with ARM processors.
• Software development on Windows using the Visual C/C++ environment.
• Software development on Linux systems in a Linux environment.
• Understanding of restrictions affecting proprietary software interfaces with GPL-, LGPL-, and ASL-licensed components.
