Maintenance Controller

hirify.global is recruiting for the UK Power Networks Transport team in the rail and transportation sector.

What you will do

• Coordinate and control maintenance and repair activities across a fleet of approximately 4,000 vehicles, plant and specialist equipment.
• Liaise with garages, suppliers and internal customers to arrange, monitor and expedite repairs.
• Track vehicle progress, minimise downtime and ensure agreed timescales and service levels are met.
• Review repair estimates, manage authorisations, monitor costs and resolve or escalate queries.
• Ensure work meets statutory, safety and manufacturer requirements.
• Maintain fleet records, invoices and documentation while monitoring supplier performance and identifying improvements.

Requirements

• Experience in a fleet, vehicle maintenance, transport or administration environment.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organisation, attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Good problem-solving skills, initiative and the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
• Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair processes and transport legislation.
