Electrical Engineer (AI)

Location: Arlington, VA, United States; onsite

Salary: $190K–$225K annually plus equity

hirify.global builds the SmartMast™ maritime intelligence platform, combining HD video, AI, radar, RF sensing, and AIS across distributed sensor networks for defense agencies, coast guards, and commercial maritime operators.

What you will do

• Design schematics and multi-layer PCB layouts optimized for thermal, EMI, mechanical, and reliability constraints.
• Manage PCB fabrication and assembly partners, BOMs, DFM/DFA reviews, and prototype validation.
• Integrate cameras, GPUs, SDRs, GNSS/GPS, IMUs, PoE, radar, and environmental sensor payloads with high-speed and serial interfaces.
• Design rugged power delivery networks with battery integration, surge suppression, and redundant regulation paths.
• Perform hands-on board bring-up, electrical validation, troubleshooting, and instrumentation-based debugging across prototypes and production units.
• Drive reliability, enclosure, harness, documentation, and hardware change-management activities in collaboration with mechanical, software, AI, and systems engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience designing, bringing up, and delivering production-grade embedded hardware and mixed-signal systems.
• Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Altium Designer or OrCAD.
• Strong knowledge of high-speed signal integrity, power electronics, and mixed-signal design principles.
• Hands-on experience with hardware bring-up, bench validation, and lab debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
• Experience with camera and high-speed data interfaces including CSI, USB3, Ethernet, and PCIe, plus I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN.
• Experience designing ruggedized electronics for environmentally constrained, high-reliability, or outdoor deployments.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills across hardware, software, and mechanical teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with NVIDIA embedded platforms such as Jetson.
• RF design experience or experience with marine or aerospace hardware deployments.
