Senior Surveyor Manager

Location: England, United Kingdom; initially based at the HS2 project team office near Euston Station in London, with later work from project offices in Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire.

What you will do

• Define and implement the Survey Management Plan for the HS2 Track Systems contract.
• Lead survey design, planning, control networks, as-built verification, setting out, reality capture, monitoring, GIS integration, and final handover deliverables.
• Provide technical assurance, quality control, and compliance with HS2 standards, client specifications, and industry best practices.
• Coordinate survey works across project Lots and manage interfaces with engineering, commercial, digital delivery, design, and construction teams.
• Act as the technical interface with HS2 Ltd, design teams, JV partners, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Drive digital construction, automation, lean surveying, integrated data workflows, team development, and industry knowledge-sharing.

Requirements

• Extensive senior-level experience in engineering surveying on major civil infrastructure programmes, including development of survey control networks.
• Experience delivering high-speed rail or slab track works.
• Leadership experience within a Tier 1 contractor or major joint venture.
• Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills, with the ability to represent surveying interests at all levels.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering surveying practices, digital workflows, and relevant technical standards.
• Deep understanding of HS2 technical requirements, Network Rail standards, and UK rail infrastructure regulations.
• Awareness of the commercial, legal, and technological factors influencing major infrastructure delivery.
