Network Engineer, Operations (NOC)

What you will do

• Administer and configure Cisco and Juniper routers and switches.
• Implement firmware changes, software upgrades, and hardware maintenance for network equipment and services.
• Troubleshoot router and network performance problems on live production networks.
• Troubleshoot circuits supporting commercially lit services and self-lit dark fiber services.
• Prepare announcements for maintenance activities and network outages.
• Configure and maintain network security controls, including ACLs, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.

Requirements

• At least 2 years in a network operations environment supporting customer networks, or 2 years in a technical support role interacting with contacts by phone and ticketing system.
• Hands-on experience with live production Cisco or Juniper network devices.
• Experience with Layer 3 routing protocols.
• Experience troubleshooting router, network performance, and circuit problems.
• Understanding of network security, secure network-device configuration, ACLs, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
• Experience installing, upgrading, and securing network equipment and services.
• Must be available for full-time, direct-hire, 100% onsite work in La Mirada, CA.
• C2C and third-party candidates will not be considered.

Nice to have

• Cisco CCNP or JNCIA-SP certification.
• Direct experience in network configuration, management, and operations.
• Experience with optical transmission systems such as DWDM.
• Experience designing and operating advanced routing protocols such as BGP.
• Working knowledge of MPLS-SR and L2VPNs.
• Experience in a university or research environment.
