Software Engineering Intern - Internal Developer Platform (TypeScript/React)

Location: Amsterdam, The Netherlands, or nearby cities; office attendance required at least twice a week

What you will do

• Build new Frontstage pages and scorecards using TypeScript and React.
• Extend the Watchtower TypeScript and PostgreSQL backend with data sources and APIs.
• Develop features such as service cost visibility for teams using the Kubernetes platform.
• Keep Frontstage updated with new Backstage releases.
• Participate in the full development cycle, including requirements understanding, design, implementation, testing, release, and agile iteration.
• Work with a mentor and receive code reviews from the engineering team.

Requirements

• Enrolled at a Dutch university until at least September 2027 for the entire internship.
• Located in Amsterdam or nearby and able to commute to the office at least twice a week.
• Available for at least 32 hours per week.
• Good TypeScript or JavaScript skills.
• Some experience building web applications, for example with React or Node.js.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and databases.
• Solid Computer Science fundamentals.
• Comfortable with written and/or verbal communication in English.
• Interest in building tools that make other engineers' lives easier and eagerness to learn.

Nice to have

• Experience with Backstage, Docker, GitHub Actions, or a cloud platform such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
