Expert IT Engineer Backend Platform (Azure)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; hybrid working with regular office attendance, with ’s-Hertogenbosch as the main location. Flexible working hours and up to two months of remote work from abroad per year are available by mutual agreement.

Salary: gross monthly salary of €6,000–€7,000, plus a flexible budget of 19.47% of gross salary.

What you will do

• Lead and improve the management, security, and development of backend platforms across Azure and hybrid on-premises environments.
• Coordinate complex technical incidents and implement structural improvements.
• Manage lifecycle activities, patching, hardening, security improvements, monitoring, alerting, and documentation.
• Design, build, and improve platform solutions using established standards, guidelines, and procedures.
• Automate management processes and recurring tasks with PowerShell and Azure DevOps pipelines.
• Coach colleagues and collaborate with engineers, architects, security teams, and other IT departments on infrastructure, cloud, and platform initiatives.

Requirements

• Broad experience managing, securing, and improving Windows Server platforms and hybrid infrastructures.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and modern platform services.
• Proven hands-on experience with Active Directory, SCOM, SCCM, and on-premises technologies is required.
• Strong experience with scripting and automation, preferably PowerShell.
• Ability to work independently with Azure DevOps, including pipelines, PBIs, and release processes.
• Proven experience with lifecycle management, patching, hardening, and security improvements.
• Ability to analyse, resolve, and structurally improve complex technical problems.
• Ability to coach colleagues, provide technical direction, share knowledge, and communicate clearly with technical and business stakeholders.
• Proactive ownership of platform quality, continuity, and continuous improvement; interest in translating new technologies into the platform environment.
• Affinity with AI tools and understanding of their use in engineering, documentation, testing, or management processes.
• Good spoken and written English.
