Senior Backend Engineer, Integrations

Location: hirify.global, Toronto, Canada

Base pay: $140,000–$180,000 CAD per year, with possible additional bonus.

What you will do

• Contribute to the technical vision, system boundaries, and architecture for services integrating with third-party vendors.
• Design and implement reusable patterns for adding new email, mobile, and push integrations.
• Write code, review implementations, debug production issues, and provide hands-on technical leadership.
• Translate ambiguous product goals and client requirements into technical plans, milestones, and incremental delivery paths.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, partner engineering, and platform teams across campaign orchestration, content creation, and message delivery.
• Build and support reliable features for enterprise customers while following development standards and industry best practices.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including building and operating backend or platform systems in production.
• Significant experience designing and operating distributed services and scalable backend services in cloud environments; Google Cloud Platform is preferred.
• Strong architectural judgment involving stateful services, asynchronous processing, system reliability, and production operations.
• Experience with hands-on technical leadership, including unblocking developers, code review, mentoring, and leading complex initiatives end-to-end.
• Experience translating ambiguous product goals into pragmatic technical designs and incremental execution plans.
• Familiarity with third-party integrations and their associated complexities.
• Understanding of retries, idempotency, backoffs, rate limiting, partial-failure handling, and external monitoring.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, logging, tracing, incident response, and shared on-call ownership for business-critical services.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to translate technical trade-offs for Product, Design, engineering partners, and business stakeholders.
• Collaborative, product-minded approach to platform engineering, balancing technical quality with customer value and delivery momentum.
