Head of Engineering/CTO (AI)

Location: Remote work from anywhere in Spain; Barcelona-based employees are expected to work from the Barcelona Tech City office at least two days a week.

hirify.global is a Barcelona-based startup studio building AI-powered subscription mobile apps, including Invoice Fly and Summary AI, for hundreds of thousands of users worldwide.

What you will do

• Own technology across product apps and the broader business, taking technical challenges from diagnosis through delivery.
• Lead new product launches and improve app performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Design and optimize backend services, cloud architecture, infrastructure, and cost efficiency.
• Strengthen security and data privacy while building data pipelines and acquisition and performance data systems.
• Integrate AI models into products and automate internal workflows.
• Set technical architecture, standards, and practices; hire engineers and build teams from scratch.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong full-stack profile with hands-on depth across frontend, backend, and infrastructure.
• Proven ability to own technical projects end to end across product, infrastructure, security, data, and AI.
• Experience building and launching products from 0→1 and scaling them from 1→100.
• Hands-on experience designing cloud infrastructure and improving performance and reliability for systems with large user bases.
• Strong understanding of security, data privacy, and data infrastructure, plus experience integrating AI models and building time-saving automations.
• Ability to learn unfamiliar technologies and domains quickly, operate in ambiguity, prioritize by impact, and make decisions with incomplete information.
• Experience hiring engineers and building teams from scratch; ability to set a technical bar for architecture, standards, and practices.
• Product-first mindset, attention to detail, passion for user experience, and ability to collaborate with design, product, and marketing and explain complex decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
• Good spoken and written English required.

Nice to have

• Spanish language skills.
• Experience as an early engineer or tech lead at a fast-scaling startup.
• Background in subscription-based mobile apps or consumer products.
• Hands-on mobile development experience, especially Flutter.
