Java Development & CI/CD Subject Matter Expert

Location: Remote; U.S. Citizenship required

Salary: $150,000–$180,000 per year, depending on experience

What you will do

• Act as the technical authority for Java development, CI/CD architecture, build automation, and secure software delivery.
• Provide architectural guidance on Java applications, development standards, code quality, performance, and enterprise modernization.
• Design, assess, implement, and optimize pipelines for automated builds, testing, security scanning, integration, and deployment.
• Assess applications, frameworks, and delivery pipelines to identify technical gaps, bottlenecks, vulnerabilities, and improvement opportunities.
• Establish engineering practices for automated testing, version control, dependency management, release management, and DevSecOps.
• Lead troubleshooting, technical assessments, root-cause analyses, tiger teams, documentation, recommendations, and stakeholder presentations across Agile Scrum teams.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, application development, DevOps, or related technical disciplines.
• Extensive hands-on experience developing and supporting enterprise applications with Java, including Java architecture, object-oriented programming, software design, and performance optimization.
• Experience with Spring, Spring Boot, or similar enterprise Java frameworks.
• Expertise designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise CI/CD pipelines and build automation using technologies such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Maven, or Gradle.
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps, secure software development, automated testing, vulnerability management, Git, and version control.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex application, integration, build, and deployment issues and work in Agile environments with multiple development teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ability to conduct technical assessments, produce implementation recommendations and executive-level documentation, communicate complex concepts, work independently, and provide technical leadership with minimal oversight.
