Senior Project Engineer (Substations)

Location: Orlando, Florida, United States; hybrid remote/office

What you will do

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering coordination for large or highly complex substation projects from design through construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Coordinate equipment specifications, procurement interfaces, supplier evaluations, design reviews, and equipment testing.
• Plan technical and cross-discipline reviews, resolve conflicting feedback, and maintain accurate engineering records.
• Assess engineering changes and their effects on scope, schedule, interfaces, effort, and budget with project and commercial management.
• Coordinate engineering responses to construction and commissioning issues and incorporate approved changes into drawings and technical information.
• Drive engineering closeout, as-built documentation, handover information, and lessons learned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in substation design or construction, power systems, or a comparable engineering or project delivery setting, including leadership of complex multidisciplinary work and technical interfaces.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills for aligning clients, suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to navigate conflicting priorities, resolve disagreements, provide clear direction, and evaluate technical and project execution trade-offs.
• Ability to engage discipline specialists and resolve complex technical interfaces within delegated authority.

Nice to have

• Experience with air-insulated switchgear (AIS) and gas-insulated switchgear (GIS).
• Experience in an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) environment.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
