Director of Product Management (Payments)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Total compensation: CAD 220,000–250,000 for work performed in Ontario.

What you will do

• Define and communicate the multi-year Payments strategy and roadmap, aligned with company OKRs and P&L targets.
• Own payments penetration, GPV growth, merchant onboarding conversion, paid sales, and line-of-business revenue.
• Lead, coach, hire, and develop Group PMs and Senior PMs across Retail and Hospitality platforms.
• Align Engineering, Design, Product Marketing, Sales, Operations, Finance, and Commercial teams around strategic priorities and delivery.
• Manage payment processor and acquirer relationships and determine when to build, buy, or partner.
• Consolidate fragmented payments capabilities into a coherent platform and represent product direction to the C-suite and Board.

Requirements

• 2–3+ years at Director level or equivalent, managing larger teams through direct and indirect reports, including Group PMs.
• Ownership of a full line of business or major product vertical such as payments, billing, or POS, with accountability for commercial outcomes.
• Track record of hiring, developing, and promoting product leaders, plus experience driving structural, technical, or strategic change in a mature technology organization.
• Strong executive presence with VP and C-suite partners.
• Deep understanding of business models, unit economics, pricing, and the impact of product decisions on P&L.
• Fluency in payments ecosystems, including acquiring, interchange, settlement, reconciliation, and compliance.
• Strong understanding of platform architecture, APIs, microservices, data infrastructure, conversion funnels, and reporting pipelines.
• Experience governing business-critical, high-availability customer flows and leading platform consolidation and migrations.
• Familiarity with lean product delivery, agile frameworks, and continuous delivery across multi-team organizations, with systems thinking, decisive leadership, strategic foresight, customer focus, and outcome orientation.
