Director, Security Architecture (AI)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, with additional locations at hirify.global Toronto Atria and hirify.global Waterloo King; hybrid work is available from the office and virtually based on business, client and individual needs.

Salary: CAD 135,000–195,000 base pay, plus an eligible discretionary bonus program.

What you will do

• Represent security architecture across enterprise architecture and technology communities, ensuring security is designed into enterprise patterns and guardrails.
• Set strategic direction for security capabilities and technologies, including cloud security, endpoint protection, SIEM, secrets and privileged access management, data protection, application security and perimeter defense.
• Evaluate emerging technologies through proofs of concept and business cases, and present security strategy to senior executive forums and technology review boards.
• Provide architecture and design expertise for enterprise projects, security initiatives and architecture governance certification.
• Define secure architecture for AI and agentic systems, including model and agent governance, AI security posture management, data-classification controls, prompt-injection defenses and secure-by-design patterns.
• Drive zero-trust adoption and consistent controls, telemetry and posture management across multiple cloud providers.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of experience in information security architecture, engineering and design.
• Experience navigating complex organisations across security, network, infrastructure and global architecture functions.
• Experience migrating and upgrading security technologies, including API security, web filtering, cloud security, email security and endpoint security.
• Experience managing third-party security service providers delivering security services.
• Strong knowledge of endpoint, cloud, infrastructure, perimeter and data protection domains.
• Multi-cloud security architecture experience across at least two major providers, including understanding of native and third-party control coverage.
• Working knowledge of CNAPP/CSPM, EDR/XDR, SIEM, secrets management, privileged access management, SSE/CASB, WAF, perimeter protection, database activity monitoring and SAST/SCA/DAST.
• Familiarity with AI and LLM threat models, the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications, NIST AI Risk Management Framework, AI security posture management, model and agent identity, and AI data-security implications.
• Expert written and verbal communication, presentation, negotiation and consensus-building skills, with a strategic and self-directed approach.
• University degree or college diploma in a related discipline, or equivalent co-op work experience.

Nice to have

• People leadership experience, including mentoring, coaching and developing others.
• Professional IT security designation such as CISM, CISSP or CISA.
