Senior AI Architect (AI)

Location: Remote or Mississauga, Canada. Remote roles require travel to the Mississauga and/or Salt Lake City offices for onboarding, team events, and semi-annual or annual meetings.

Salary: CAD 161,000–201,000 per year

What you will do

• Design and evolve the AI Platform, including the agentic runtime, MCP integration layer, model gateway, evaluation, and observability services.
• Guide architectural decisions, design reviews, and hands-on technical mentorship for the AI Engineering team.
• Partner with product counterparts to translate roadmaps into architectural requirements, designs, and decision records.
• Enable engineering teams to build AI agents, MCP servers, and GenAI solutions through reference architectures, reusable patterns, paved-road templates, and direct guidance.
• Establish standards for security, responsible AI, evaluation, and observability, and run architectural reviews to ensure production readiness and compliance.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering and platform architecture experience, including 5+ years focused on AI/ML infrastructure and GenAI solutions at scale.
• Deep cloud expertise, with Azure preferred.
• Hands-on experience with agentic systems, agent frameworks, multi-agent orchestration, MCP, tool use, RAG, vector databases, and production LLMOps.
• Experience designing internal platforms used by other engineering teams, including developer experience, APIs, SDKs, and self-service patterns.
• Strong architectural breadth across cloud-native systems, distributed systems, data platforms, and security architecture.
• Ability to produce high-quality architecture documents and decision records and clearly communicate design trade-offs to engineering and product audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure OpenAI, AKS, APIM, and the Databricks lakehouse, including Unity Catalog and model serving.
• Healthcare technology platform or clinical workflow experience.
• Experience guiding engineering teams as a senior architect or technical lead in a platform organization.
• Expertise in advanced agentic patterns, tool and MCP server design, agent evaluation, and model fine-tuning pipelines.
• Deep knowledge of AI governance, responsible AI, and model risk management in regulated environments.
