Senior Fullstack Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote, but candidates must reside in Germany; Berlin office access and regular in-person team events are available.

What you will do

• Design, build, operate, and improve reliable backend services and APIs using Python, Django, and PostgreSQL.
• Contribute targeted changes to React Native applications with TypeScript and take an end-to-end view across mobile clients, APIs, data models, and infrastructure.
• Use AI coding agents to implement features, refactor code, generate tests, and connect engineering and design tools through MCP while protecting sensitive data.
• Own backend delivery across architecture, implementation, automated testing, deployment, monitoring, and CI/CD improvement.
• Improve service, API, and database performance and reliability while maintaining security and applicable IEC 62304, BSI TR-03161, and MDR requirements.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Medical on patient-centric features and mentor developers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong backend focus and understanding of complete applications from user interface to infrastructure.
• Strong backend development skills in Python, TypeScript, Java, or PHP; the current stack includes Python, Django, and PostgreSQL.
• Working knowledge of React Native and TypeScript, including implementing and testing changes in an existing mobile application.
• Solid understanding of relational databases, API design, distributed systems, services, automated unit and integration tests, backend security, privacy, authentication, authorization, secrets management, and secure handling of personal and patient data.
• Strong practical knowledge of containers, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architecture, with experience using GCP, AWS, Azure, or another major cloud provider.
• Hands-on experience using AI coding agents and connecting them to engineering tools through MCP; ability to explain task scoping, result verification, permissions, and sensitive-data handling.
• Pragmatic product mindset and effective collaboration with non-technical stakeholders, including understanding the impact of technical decisions on patients and UX.

Nice to have

• Linux administration, including setting up, operating, and securing self-managed cloud instances, plus monitoring and observability knowledge.
• Experience with Prometheus, Loki, Grafana, GitOps using ArgoCD or FluxCD, or configuration management using Ansible or similar tools.
• Networking knowledge and experience with mobile CI/CD, release automation, or application monitoring tools such as Sentry.
• Experience in regulated industries, healthcare, or other security-conscious environments.
