Senior Thermal Design Engineer (AI Hardware)

Salary: $220,000–$280,000 per year

What you will do

• Design and develop thermal solutions including heatsinks, cold plates, and liquid cooling systems.
• Perform thermal modeling and simulations using Flotherm, Flotherm-XT, IcePak, and other industry-standard tools.
• Lead thermal testing and validation to ensure system performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with hardware and system teams to integrate thermal designs.
• Work with suppliers to deliver high-quality thermal components.
• Troubleshoot thermal issues, maintain system reliability, and track emerging cooling technologies.

Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on heat transfer; an M.S. is preferred.
• 5–10 years of experience in thermal design; experience with datacenter network systems is preferred.
• Proficiency with thermal simulation tools including Flotherm, Flotherm-XT, and IcePak.
• Strong understanding of air-cooling techniques, including vapor chambers, heat pipes, heatsinks, fans, TIMs, and rack-level constraints.
• Deep knowledge of heat transfer and real-world thermal system design.

Nice to have

• Experience with liquid cooling.
• Experience with datacenter network systems.
• M.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
