Data Lead (AI)

Location: High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom; hybrid working with 2 days per week in the office.

What you will do

• Own and evolve the modern data platform as a reliable, scalable, governed single source of truth.
• Define and deliver the data strategy, roadmap, architecture, reporting capabilities, KPIs, and success metrics.
• Lead data engineering, analytics, business intelligence, data modelling, dashboards, reporting, and self-service tools.
• Deliver commercial insight across trading, merchandising, customer performance, and operations, including forecasting, customer segmentation, and predictive analytics.
• Enable governed natural-language querying and responsible AI use by validating AI-generated outputs against trusted metrics.
• Partner with Product, Technology, senior leaders, technology partners, and data providers while promoting data literacy and evidence-based decisions.

Requirements

• Significant experience leading data and analytics initiatives, ideally in retail, ecommerce, or a customer-focused environment.
• Proven experience building and scaling modern data platforms and reporting capabilities.
• Strong hands-on experience across data engineering, analytics, and business intelligence.
• Experience with cloud-based data warehouses and modern data-stack technologies such as Snowflake, dbt, and Fivetran.
• Knowledge of DataOps principles, data modelling, governance, and best-practice development standards.
• Experience delivering advanced analytics, forecasting, customer segmentation, or predictive modelling initiatives.
• Strong understanding of using data for AI and natural-language querying.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts as clear business value.
• Analytical mindset combined with commercial awareness, pragmatism, continuous improvement, innovation, and experience coaching or mentoring others.
