General Product Manager (Physical Products)

Location: Based in Shenzhen, Dongguan, or Hong Kong, China, with in-person visits to factories, design agencies, and studios every week; the role is listed as remote but requires regular physical presence.

Salary: US$135,000–175,000 per year base, plus up to 20% of base in milestone bonuses.

What you will do

• Own the product roadmap for two brands, prioritizing launches, consumables, accessories, and upgrades by revenue potential and margin.
• Turn customer reviews, support tickets, returns, pet behaviour, and competitor products into signed-off product briefs.
• Lead industrial design, engineering, prototypes, stage gates, firmware, companion apps, testing, certification, and mass production.
• Hire and manage contract designers, engineers, studios, and Pearl River Delta factories; negotiate cost, MOQ, tooling, lead time, and quality.
• File patents and secure NNNs, IP assignments, mold ownership, and tooling ownership before factory contact.
• Build the product function with SOPs, weekly reporting, monthly objectives, and future product hires.

Requirements

• 6–8+ years of end-to-end physical product development experience, including several products taken from idea through mass production and launch.
• Experience building and running a product team covering design, engineering, patents, factories, contractors, and studios.
• Fluent English and Mandarin for communication with the CEO, team, factories, and engineers.
• Experience finding, vetting, managing, and negotiating with Chinese factories in Mandarin, including price, MOQ, tooling, and quality.
• Experience filing patents in China and/or the US and protecting designs with NNNs, IP assignments, mold ownership, and tooling ownership.
• Ability to manage target landed cost and margin through tooling and production.
• Mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineering judgment sufficient to lead engineers and identify problems early.
• Ability to translate customer reviews, returns, and pet behaviour into desirable products.
• Contractor arrangement: invoice hirify.global, for example through an own Hong Kong company. Willingness to work overtime or weekends when needed and work closely with the founder.

• Experience with pet products, small appliances, or app-connected devices shipped end to end.
