What you will do

• Operate and maintain Proxmox production clusters supporting approximately 1,000 virtual machines.
• Troubleshoot and maintain Ceph storage, including health, capacity, and recovery.
• Maintain Linux virtual machines and the services running on them.
• Handle incidents and participate in a 24/7 rotating on-call schedule.
• Use SaltStack for configuration management, operational tasks, infrastructure changes, upgrades, and expansions.
• Document systems, procedures, and changes while improving operational reliability.

Requirements

• Solid Linux fundamentals; Linux is used as the daily operating system.
• Basic virtualization experience or strong interest in virtualization; Proxmox experience is not required.
• Interest in storage systems; Ceph experience is not required.
• Comfort working with many services and systems in production environments where uptime matters.
• Basic scripting skills in Bash, Python, or a similar language, with an automation mindset.
• Familiarity with configuration management concepts; SaltStack is preferred, or similar tools.
• Methodical troubleshooting and clear communication skills.
• Comfort using AI coding tools such as Codex in daily work.

Nice to have

• Production experience with Proxmox, including small clusters or labs.
• Hands-on experience with Ceph, including small clusters or labs.
• Experience with SaltStack states, pillars, grains, and orchestration, or similar tools.
• Understanding of monitoring, alerting, and incident handling.
• Networking fundamentals, including VLANs, routing, and firewalls.
• Strong documentation habits and clean operational work.
