Network Engineer (Carrier Networking)

Location: Luxembourg-based company; the role manages a carrier backbone spanning Luxembourg, Belgium, and Germany and supports expansion into France.

What you will do

• Manage and expand an international carrier backbone and network services.
• Configure and adapt network devices through command-line interfaces.
• Plan and execute network expansions and changes while maintaining redundancy and resilience against hardware failures and fiber cuts.
• Monitor, secure, and troubleshoot complex networks during outages.
• Provision new network services and adapt existing services using network overlay technologies.
• Create and maintain network automation tools and documentation.

Requirements

• Knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, Mikrotik, or Huawei networking devices and configuration through command-line interfaces.
• Experience planning and executing network expansions and changes, including redundancy and hardware- and fiber-cut resistance.
• Knowledge of SNMP and IPFIX/Netflow for network security, monitoring, anomaly detection, and troubleshooting.
• Practical knowledge of BGP, ISIS, and OSPF dynamic routing protocols.
• Networking knowledge applicable to carrier backbone services and network overlay technologies.
• Experience with Python and network automation tools such as Nornir or Ansible.
• Experience with Netbox and Visio for network documentation.
• Carrier backbone experience is welcomed but not required; network enthusiasts interested in developing in this area are also encouraged to apply.
