Quantum System Implementation Engineer (RF)

Location: Full-time, on-site in Espoo, Finland. Relocation support is not available.

What you will do

• Assemble, install, and verify cryogenic and room-temperature RF cabling, attenuators, amplifiers, filters, and coaxial assemblies.
• Run RF measurements with VNAs, spectrum analysers, signal generators, and multimeters; analyse results and assess system performance.
• Troubleshoot signal integrity, impedance mismatches, and noise in measurement setups.
• Support commissioning and performance testing of cryogenic systems for RF and quantum device testing.
• Work with scientists and senior engineers to improve measurement setups, validate assemblies, and complete small engineering sub-projects.
• Create repeatable assembly instructions and documentation while maintaining a safe, organised laboratory.

Requirements

• BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, RF Engineering, Physics, Quantum Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with RF systems in a laboratory, research, or industry setting.
• Solid understanding of RF fundamentals, including S-parameters, transmission lines, attenuation, and amplification.
• Practical experience using a VNA, spectrum analyser, signal generator, and multimeter, including testing microwave components.
• Hands-on assembly skills, including building setups, soldering, and precise wiring in tight spaces.
• Experience working in an ESD-protected area and following structured laboratory practices.
• Strong documentation skills and the ability to write repeatable instructions.
• Critical thinking, initiative, fast learning, and the ability to solve problems independently while following safety and process guidelines.

Nice to have

• Experience with cryogenic systems, dilution refrigerators, or high vacuum.
• Experience with four-wire measurements of low resistances.
• Familiarity with lean practices such as 5S.
• Experience in a quantum technology laboratory, academia, or industry.
