Fullstack Software Engineer (x/f/m) - Backend Platform

Location: Remote work available from France, Belgium, or Spain; candidates must be legally eligible to work in one of these countries.

What you will do

• Own backend building blocks used by hirify.global products, including events, queues, cache, transactions, and shared runtime capabilities.
• Develop the production event pipeline using a PostgreSQL outbox, Redis Streams, and an S3 archive.
• Design data replication between services so teams can maintain fresh local read-only copies.
• Build tools for extracting capabilities from the Python monolith into independently scalable services, including service templates, APIs, tracing, and dependency management.
• Define backend standards, SLOs, alerts, and operational practices with other engineering teams.
• Make platform capabilities simple enough for product teams to adopt and operate independently.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, including production ownership of libraries, frameworks, pipelines, or internal platforms. The posting also mentions 3+ years in backend, platform, or infrastructure-oriented engineering roles.
• Daily experience with distributed systems, including events and messaging, delivery guarantees, ordering, idempotence, retries, data replication, consistency, and transactions.
• In-depth PostgreSQL knowledge, including transactions, locks, replication, and query plans.
• Experience splitting a monolith or building services incrementally while production remains operational.
• Experience designing and maintaining internal services, APIs, or SDKs.
• Experience measuring systems before optimization and setting SLOs and alerts for owned components.
• Product-platform mindset: product and engineering teams are treated as customers, with emphasis on adoption, clear abstractions, long-term ownership, collaboration, and influence without authority.
• English working proficiency is required; French is not required.
• Python experience is not required, although the stack includes Python, Flask, SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL, Redis, RQ, and Datadog.

Nice to have

• Experience in a platform team serving product teams.
• Event-driven architecture at scale, CDC or logical replication, async Python including asyncio or FastAPI, multi-region systems, data residency, or regulated data such as health or payment data.
• Interest in healthcare technology and using AI to redefine engineering roles and improve scalability.
