Backend Engineer (AI) (Python/Django, PostgreSQL): Owning and improving the backend and production infrastructure for an AI platform that converts images and text into 3D models with an accent on backend architecture, database migration, infrastructure reliability, and secure performance. Focus on developing Django features, managing Linux deployments, migrating PostgreSQL to Neon, and ensuring background jobs, integrations, monitoring, and backups remain reliable.
Location: Fully remote; work from wherever you like, with working hours aligned to Central European Time

3D AI Studio, a brand, provides an AI platform that turns images and text into editable 3D models and custom workflows for creators, game developers, 3D printing businesses, and other companies.
What you will do
- Take ownership of the Python/Django backend, reviewing, improving, and developing backend features with the founder.
- Manage the Hetzner Linux server, deployments, software updates, and server security.
- Investigate incidents, resolve backend issues, and improve platform stability, security, and performance.
- Maintain PostgreSQL and help migrate the database to Neon.
- Keep background jobs, external API integrations, monitoring, and backups reliable.
- Use AI coding tools daily to improve productivity and work quality.
Requirements
- Strong production experience building and maintaining Python and Django backends.
- Good PostgreSQL and SQL skills, including query optimization and migrations.
- Hands-on Linux server administration and production troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with REST APIs, background jobs, and task queues such as Celery or RabbitMQ.
- Comfort with Git, code reviews, testing, and safe deployments.
- Independent, reliable ownership, initiative in improving systems, and clear communication of technical issues.
- Active use of AI tools to improve productivity and work quality, with curiosity about emerging capabilities and practical AI application.
Nice to have
- Experience with Hetzner, Neon, Nginx, S3-compatible storage, or CI/CD.
- Basic familiarity with 3D models and simple 3D workflows; advanced 3D expertise is not required.
- Experience with AI APIs or media processing.
