Senior Automation QA Engineer (Playwright)

Location: Hybrid, 2 days per week in the office in Vila Nova de Gaia / Porto, Portugal

Salary: €28,000–€52,000 gross per year

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks.
• Perform UI, API, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing for SaaS and web-based products.
• Test multi-tenant workflows, user permissions, role-based access control, and critical business processes.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and implement quality gates.
• Define testing strategies, identify quality risks, and perform root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with development teams and stakeholders, mentor QA engineers, and promote quality engineering practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, Test Engineering, or Quality Engineering, including 3+ years of hands-on test automation experience.
• 2+ years of experience with Playwright or equivalent browser automation frameworks, with strong experience in Playwright and TypeScript/JavaScript or equivalent programming languages.
• Strong knowledge of REST API testing, HTTP methods, authentication, authorization, JSON, and API contracts.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, quality gates, Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions, Git, and version control.
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, DOM, browser behavior, and cross-browser testing.
• Experience with SQL, database validation, Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar test and defect management tools.
• Knowledge of test isolation, parallel execution, test data management, flaky test troubleshooting, and test automation best practices.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile methodologies, Scrum, risk-based testing, and shift-left testing.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and root-cause analysis skills; ability to define testing strategies and collaborate with development teams and stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring QA engineers and promoting quality engineering best practices.
• Fluent English is mandatory.

Nice to have

• ISTQB, Playwright, Cloud, Security Testing, or Agile certifications.
