IT Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: New York City, United States. Workplace type: Onsite.

Salary: $160,000–$180,000 per year, plus a top-of-market equity component. Final compensation may vary based on experience and other factors.

What you will do

• Own identity and access management, including SSO, MFA, role-based access, and automated provisioning and deprovisioning through the HRIS.
• Deploy and manage primarily macOS devices through MDM, including enrollment, configuration baselines, patching, disk encryption, and EDR coverage.
• Build zero-touch onboarding and rapid offboarding workflows.
• Administer the SaaS lifecycle, evaluate tools, manage licenses, and reduce tool sprawl and spend.
• Automate repetitive IT work with scripts and workflow tools, provide escalation support, and build documentation and self-service.
• Partner with security on SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 controls and evidence, and establish IT operations for UK expansion, including procurement and shipping.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in IT engineering or systems administration, ideally in a high-growth startup or security-focused company.
• Hands-on administration of an identity provider such as Okta, Google Workspace, or Entra ID, including SSO, SCIM, and conditional access.
• Deep experience managing macOS fleets through an MDM such as Jamf or Kandji.
• Working knowledge of endpoint security tooling and how device posture informs access decisions.
• Scripting ability in Python, Bash, or PowerShell, with a practice of automating repetitive work.
• Experience supporting SOC 2 or ISO 27001 audits, including owning controls and producing evidence.
• Sound judgment when balancing security, cost, and employee experience, with the ability to explain tradeoffs clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience as the first or only IT hire and building the function from scratch.
• Experience with Okta Workflows, Zapier, Tines, or similar workflow automation platforms.
• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Experience supporting a distributed team across the US and UK or EU.
• Jamf, Okta, Apple, or other relevant certifications.
