Senior Decision Support Analyst

Location: Remote, based in Pennsylvania, United States

What you will do

• Analyze volume, revenue, cost, and profitability to explain financial results and improve business understanding.
• Conduct ad hoc analyses requested by Highmark, Allegheny Health Network, or Finance leadership.
• Analyze variances against budgets, forecasts, prior-year results, and other benchmarks to identify improvement opportunities.
• Combine financial analysis with operational and clinical data, including patient mix, procedure mix, and payer mix.
• Create and present executive-level summaries with findings, recommendations, and insights.
• Mentor and coach junior analysts and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, or a related field, or 6 years of related progressive experience in lieu of a degree.
• 3 years of experience in decision support and data analysis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to analyze financial results, operational metrics, clinical outcomes, and other datasets, and translate detailed data into strategic insights.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet established deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building partnerships across the organization.
• Self-starter able to drive major projects with minimal supervision.
• Employees must protect confidential information and comply with HIPAA, data security requirements, the Code of Business Conduct, applicable laws, and company policies.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
• Proficiency in SQL, Tableau or other data visualization tools, Alteryx or other data wrangling/ETL tools, and R, Python, or other statistical/programming tools.
• Experience with Strata or another cost accounting system.
• 3 years of experience in a clinical setting or general understanding of hospital and physician practice operations.
• 3 years of healthcare industry experience, particularly with hospitals or other providers.
